Dr Nick Isaac - Macroecologist

Centre for Ecology & Hydrology

Crowmarsh Gifford
OX10 8BB

Nick is interested in questions about abundance, diversity, distribution and extinction risk. He trained as an evolutionary biologist at Imperial College, spent six years as a Postdoc at the Institute of Zoology and moved to CEH in the summer of 2008.

Nick's research generally involves statistical modelling using data that are structured in space, in time and/or phylogenetically. He is particularly interested in tests of process-based models, such as the metabolic theory of ecology. Historically, he has worked mostly on mammals (especially primates), but the taxonomic spread of his research is continually expanding.

Nick currently holds a Fellowship from the National Environment Research Council and is Associate Editor of Animal Conservation.
